The American Youth Philharmonic Percussion Ensemble was founded by its Director, Doug Wallace, in 2001. Originally created as a chamber music opportunity for the percussion sections of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras, the quality and popularity of the ensemble has grown immensely. As one of the premier ensembles within the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras organization, the American Youth Philharmonic Percussion Ensemble is proud to have graduated some of the finest high school percussionists in the country. Since its inception in 2001, the cooperative curriculum between the percussion ensemble and the orchestral program has produced students who have gone on to pursue music at almost all of the major music schools in the country, many of whom currently play professionally or hold professional teaching positions.
