DWP's Beatbox Recording Project Booking Guide
Live Audio and Video Recordings (acoustic instruments):
Many students and professionals choose to record audition videos, competition videos, college portfolios, college prescreening videos, and other live projects at DWP's Beatbox. If you are looking to do one of these projects, here are some things that you should know:
1. DWP's Beatbox provides professional audio and/or video services, as well as post production. Most clients these days want video to accompany their audio recordings, but we can do anything that you want. Please understand that some level of post production is almost always necessary for a high quality product. This includes lining up audio and video, mixing, mastering, and whatever editing is required. We are aware that live competition and audition videos cannot be "edited", but there is still post production involved to set appropriate volume levels, mix solo and accompaniment parts, and work on video aesthetics. We kindly as that you give us at least a week after the recording date to deliver the final product. If you need to expedite the process to meet a deadline, we can almost always accommodate you. However, this scenario is not ideal. In rare cases, there may be a rush fee added. In these instances, clients are always told in advance.
2. The time that the project will take, and the cost of the final product, will depend on the number of pieces or excerpts being recorded, as well as the level of preparation by the performers. Musicians who are very prepared will need fewer takes/less recording time, and thus the cost will be lower. Fewer takes also translates into a quicker post production process, which saves money. *Here is a general guide as to how long a session might take, as well as the service that we think will make the most sense for you:
3. DWP's Beatbox has a huge selection of percussion equipment and a very nice Yamaha CX2 Grand Piano for clients to use. We can also help you find an accompanist should you not have one. The accompanist fee(s) and rehearsal/recording schedule should be negotiated directly with the accompanist that you choose.
4. DWP's Beatbox has very high quality recording equipment, including a variety of professional microphones and a Blackmagic 6K Pro camera rig. If you have specific questions about our gear, please don't hesitate to ask.
Recordings for Jazz and Rock Bands:
1. If you are a jazz or rock band, there are many steps to your recording and post production process. Whether you plan to track your music, perform live, or some combination of the two, DWP's Beatbox strongly recommends booking a consultation before doing anything else. We want you to be happy with the final product, and need to get more information before guiding you.
2. DWP's Beatbox stocks a variety of electronic equipment, including keyboards, guitars, basses, and amps. We also have acoustic and electronic drums. If you would like to use some of our instruments, please mention this when you contact us.
