Recommended Equipment for AYPO Percussion Participation
AYPO prides itself on providing students with quality instruments, mallets, and other percussion related equipment for every rehearsal and performance. Unfortunately, due to the size of the organization and percussion program, it is not always possible to accommodate 4 percussion sections at 3 different rehearsal locations. During certain concert cycles, equipment either needs to be rented, purchased, provided by staff, or provided by students. In order to ensure that the AYPO percussion sections uphold the tradition of high artistic standards, we strongly recommend that all percussion students own or rent some basic items. The following equipment is standard for all serious percussion students, and we believe that AYPO participants should considering acquiring these items (specific links below, equivalent items also acceptable):

AYPO realizes that not all students have the same goals and/or resources. If you feel that you would like further guidance on percussion-related purchases of any kind, please speak to Mr. Wallace.
*If you do not wish to own these mandatory items (or equivalent), you can opt out by contributing an instrument usage fee to the AYPO percussion inventory budget. Mr. Wallace will go over this option with all interested students.
- Intermediate Stick Pack (2 Pair of Snare Drum Sticks, Vibe/Marimba Mallets, Xylo/Bell Mallets, Timpani Mallets)
- Intermediate Performance Pack (Tambourine, Triangle/Clip/Beater, Woodblock)
- Rubber Mallets (1 Pair)
