FCPS Percussion

Since the mid 1980's, Mr. Wallace has been involved with music in Fairfax County Public Schools.  In the 1980's, he began his music education at Laurel Ridge Elementary School, later attending Robinson Secondary for Middle School and High School.  Eventually, Mr. Wallace left the Northern Virginia area to pursue his Bachelor's degree at the Eastman School of Music and Master's Degree at The Juilliard School.  These studies, however, did not prevent him from coming back to Fairfax County during the summer breaks to work at various music camps.  In the mid 1990's, Mr Wallace moved back to the Washington D.C. area to build a career as both a performer, composer and educator.  He has worked with concert and marching percussion sections all over the county including those at Madison H.S., McLean H.S., Woodson H.S., Robinson H.S., Langley H.S., Longfellow M.S., Kilmer M.S., and Thoreau M.S.  He has taken these groups to various conferences and competitions including The Midwest Clinic, The Bands of America National Percussion Festival, and the Virginia Music Educators Conference.  Mr. Wallace has recently moved to the Hampton Roads area to take on a full time position as both Professor of Percussion Studies and Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at Christopher Newport University.  He plans to maintain an active presence in Fairfax County as a regular clinician.

If you would like to book Mr. Wallace for a clinic or sectional, please send a message via this contact form.

Testimonial

I have seen Mr. Wallace work with school-aged percussionists for many years, and I have never seen anyone consistently produce more well-rounded, fundamentally strong percussion students than he.  He has developed numerous successful percussion programs, but what is so striking about his teaching is that all of his students, regardless of their natural ability, develop the fundamental skills and security to become effective and confident players.
